Because of his reclusiveness, the most we ever really get to know about Frank Ocean‘s personal life is through his music. The lyrics that he writes emote the highs, the lows, and the ugly truth of relationships accompanied by his philosophy, sorrow, and his independence as an individual. One of the last major headlines that we know of regarding him was when he won a lawsuit against his father after being sued for $14.5 million in damages for alleged defamation.
In his latest feature with i-D magazine, he appears on the cover sharing Photo essay of his summer 2017 tour with photos of everyone that kept him going on the road. In the essay , the singer explains how many questions could be answered with a “yes” but more questions can be answered with a “no.”
Another part of the letter touches on Frank discussing his twenties, reaffirming that he had peace in those years. He’s turning 30 this week (October 28th) and he says the best way to make your 30s “sound appealing” is to mention your “sexual prime.” Most of us weren’t thinking that Frank Ocean would be hinting at making some new music, this open letter discussing time and his age and growth as a person is a pretty good indication that he must have something brewing up in the studio .

“You can answer a lot of questions with “Yes.” But you can answer many more with “No.” No is run-of-the-mill. Yes is a gem. Whenever I feel alone I watch live television, something about it being okay on their end makes it okay on mine. Onstage one in-ear is my mic feed and the other one is a Tim Ferriss podcast. I go long periods without talking but I raise my voice when the people on the phone are in loud places. I’ve never given my fans nicknames because the ones I think of are embarrassing. I’m world famous. I had peace in my twenties. Big Pharrell praying hands those weren’t mutually exclusive. If you want to make your 30s sound appealing just mention “sexual prime.” Re: the photos… as Karl Lagerfeld would say they “came to me in a dream.” Summer two thousand and seventeen. We leaned into it. Bananaberry-flavored candies at the bottom of the cup. I’ll never know why or what’s with campouts for Szechuan sauce at McDonalds. But I’m way into it. Issa Dreamworld. If you liked two thousand and seventeen then you’ll love two thousand and eighteen.”
