A new restaurant was just created, and this restaurant is inside of a Ferris wheel. That’s right, a dining experience where guests are able to sit inside of a Ferris wheel while being served a meal.
Costes, a Michelin-star restaurant in Hungary, recently transformed the Budapest Eye Ferris wheel into a restaurant so that people can enjoy a safe dining environment during the Corona Virus pandemic.
For approximately $154, guests receive a four-course meal.
Since each cabin is enclosed and fully separated from other parties, many are worry-free when dining in the Budapest Eye Ferris wheel. One customer noted that with an enclosed area and only being with people that are close to you makes this dining experience safer than other open restaurants during the pandemic. Another guest mentioned that they dined in restaurants often before the pandemic hit, but since the pandemic, the only restaurant that they feel safe dining at is the one located inside the enclosed Ferris wheel.
The owner said that the Corona Virus pandemic gave him the opportunity to think of a creative way to occupy the Ferris wheel since tourists are not prevalent, thus he came up with the idea to transform the Ferris wheel into a restaurant.
Others have followed suit in repurposing Ferris wheels due to a shortage of profit during this pandemic period stemmed from the lack of tourism, including an amusement park in Tokyo that repurposed their Ferris wheel cabins into work stations equipped with Wi-Fi.
These unique experiences aren’t expected to last post-pandemic. After the pandemic, Ferris wheels will likely be put back to their original states.
