Polyamory is defined as a relationship that involves more than two people. The lifestyle is often misconstrued as an excuse to sleep around or be unfaithful.
“In my friend group, I’m the only polyamorous person, and I have the least sex out of all of my friends,” said Smith, who debunks the misconception.
Her family is in full support of her coming out.
“When you were like, ‘Hey, this is my get down’, I was like, ‘I totally get it,’” said Smith’s mother.
Gammy on the other hand does not comprehend the romantic aspect. She expressed how she could never love multiple partners equally, but commends the lifestyle.
“For somebody like me, it feels like it’s really all just centered around sex,” said Smith’s grandmother. However, after experiencing marriage on four different occasions, the 67-year-old admits to having considered trying the lifestyle.
This conversation definitely highlighted the intersections of identity that challenge the stereotypical understanding of polyamory.

“With polyamory, I feel like the main foundation is the freedom to be able to create a relationship style that works for you and not just stepping into monogamy because that’s what everyone around you says is the right thing to do,” said Smith
The show also brought on other individuals who identify as polyamorous, they discussed topics like jealousy, their sex lives, and social acceptance.

The musical artist is currently in a relationship with artist and musician Tyler Cole, who she has been linked to since 2018. Currently, Cole is Smith’s only partner, however, she said she could see herself dating up to two people at once.
Smith has been publicly and unapologetically herself. The star recently released her single “t r a n s p a r e n t s o u l” which kick-started her venture in the pop-punk scene. With the turn in her music career and vocalizing her sexuality, Smith is living her truest life.
