The 2023-24 NBA regular season has concluded, revealing the six playoff teams in each conference, as well as the four teams vying in the play-in tournament for the final two seeds in the Eastern and Western Conferences.
The Boston Celtics, New York Knicks, Milwaukee Bucks, Cleveland Cavaliers, Orlando Magic, and Indiana Pacers have secured the six playoff spots in the East.
In the West, the Oklahoma City Thunder, Minnesota Timberwolves, Denver Nuggets, Los Angeles Clippers, Dallas Mavericks, and Phoenix Suns will compete in the first round.
The play-in tournament for the East will feature the Philadelphia 76ers against the Miami Heat for the 7th seed, and the Chicago Bulls against the Atlanta Hawks for the 8th seed. Meanwhile, in the West, the New Orleans Pelicans will face the Los Angeles Lakers for the 7th seed, and the Sacramento Kings will meet the Golden State Warriors for the 8th seed.
The play-in tournament is scheduled to take place Tuesday through Friday, with the first round of the 2024 NBA playoffs commencing on Saturday.
Thunder Clinch No. 1 Seed in the West The matchups were finalized on the final day of the regular season, with playoff positioning at stake. The Thunder emerged victorious in a three-way race for the No. 1 seed in the West with a dominant 135-86 win over the Mavericks, coupled with a Timberwolves loss to the Suns. The Nuggets secured the No. 2 seed with a victory over the Memphis Grizzlies.
Phoenix moved up to the No. 6 seed and secured the final guaranteed playoff spot in the West with a win over Minnesota. The Pelicans, who initially held the No. 6 seed, fell into the play-in tournament following a loss to the Los Angeles Lakers.
In the East, the Knicks claimed the No. 2 seed with an overtime win against the Bulls, while the Bucks dropped to the No. 3 seed after losing to the Magic. The Pacers secured the conference’s final guaranteed playoff spot with a convincing win over the Hawks, relegating the 76ers and Heat to the play-in tournament.
