Over a decade ago, Film Director, Kristopher Belman decided to create a documentary film that follows the life of NBA superstar LeBron James as a high school prospect coming out of Akron, Ohio while telling us a very interesting and yet a compelling story of one of the NBA’s greatest basketball players. More Than A Game was released in 2008 and credited as one of the greatest basketball documentaries, next to Hoop Dreams (1994) Without Bias (2009) , & Benji (2012) .
If there is one thing that young teenage men would argue about, it would be sports. From the NFL to the NBA to MLB, the constant day to day debates would be centered around who is the best team, best conference and most importantly the best player in each sport.
To no question, LeBron James is often regarded as the best player in the league in the NBA today and even some would regard him as being one of the greatest NBA players of all time, next to the likes of NBA legends Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant.
As of recently, LeBron James and his partners decided to add a temporary housing building for the families of the “I Promise School” students.
“Initially, our work was focused on helping these kids earn an education. But we’ve found that it is impossible to help them learn if they are struggling to survive — if they are hungry, if they have no heat in the freezing winter if they live in fear for their safety,” – LeBron James said in a statement with the press.
LeBron James’s humility and passion for helping the families in Akron is highly respected by fellow NBA players, celebs and millions of fans. We love to see #BlackExcellence at its finest.
In the society we live in today, we often see the disregard for the African American children and their place in the educational school system because of their social class status. For LeBron to create a school gear towards the progression of young African American children in education, it says a lot about his character as a human being. We commend you, King!
