Chances are you’ve probably made New Year’s resolutions at some point, convinced yourself that this would be the year you follow through with them, and a month later, find yourself falling into old habits.
It happens to everyone, but there are ways to help you keep your New Year’s resolutions!
Here are five tips to help you keep your New Year’s resolutions:
Be Realistic.
The quickest way to fall short of your goal is to make it unattainable; when thinking about your New Year’s resolutions, make sure you strive for something attainable; for instance, don’t vow to never eat your favorite food again, instead work your way up to it, eating it less often than usual.
Outline Your Plan.
Write down your plan for achieving your goal, decide how you’ll deal with the temptation of skipping that exercise class. Make sure to practice positive thinking and remind yourself of your end goal.
Track Your Progress.
Keep track of each and every small success. Short-term goals are easier to keep, and each accomplishment will keep you motivated.
Don’t Beat Yourself Up.
Obsessing over the occasional slip won’t help you achieve your goals. Do your best and take one day at a time!
Keep Trying.
If you feel yourself constantly slipping, don’t give up! Start over again! Achieving your goals isn’t a straight line; it’s filled with many ups and downs, but the important part is to never give up! Recommit each day, and soon, you’ll be back on track!
