Life is a beautiful thing; being able to laugh, smile, love, and enjoy all the pleasures that life has to offer is a privilege. Life, however, has its pros and cons, and we must be willing to handle/take the good with the bad. Here are the 5 brutal truths in life:
You & The People You Love Will Die One Day:
Death is a normal and natural part of life; it will happen to all of us, so live life to the fullest my friends! Enjoy a night out with friends, eat till you’re full, and laugh until your stomach hurts because you may be here today and gone tomorrow. The beautiful thing about death is that in the grave there is no suffering, so be at peace with the comfort of knowing that your loved ones are at peace too, know that they would want you to be happy because life is so brief.
You Are Never In Control
Brazilian-American actress Jennifer O’Neil said: “Control is an illusion. You will never be able to control anything, any situation, or anyone without consent. So in actuality, there is no control, there is only consent!” We are only tiny beings in a massive and vast world we are never in control, why would we want to have so much control anyway? It stresses us out. If we relinquish control, we will be happier and more accessible.
Not Everyone Will Love/Like You:
And that’s okay because you are loved and you love yourself. When you love yourself nothing else matters, you will say to yourself “they’re missing out” or “it’s their loss”, and in reality, people’s opinions about you 99% of the time have nothing to do with you, but with themselves, they’re preferences, personalities, and so on.
Pain is Inevitable:
Whether it be emotional, physical, mental, or spiritual (if you believe in spirituality); you will experience all kinds, shapes, and forms of pain. You can’t have pleasure without having the possibility of pain, but the beauty about pain is that it NEVER lasts forever after a rainy day there is a rainbow, and you learn to enjoy as well as appreciate things, people, and situations more.
“There” is Never Better than “Here”:
The grass is never really greener on the other side, in life we will always have problems no matter what race, nationality, ethnicity, religion, culture, socio-economic group, etc. we are. The most important thing to do is to be happy and take the good with the bad because both are gifts of life. This truth also helps us enjoy and appreciate whatever stage in life we are in. Living wholeheartedly means enjoying the present.
I must admit these truths are hard to swallow, but they are refreshing and humbling. The quicker we learn these truths the more prepared we are to handle them. Knowledge gives us peace, strength, and ultimately joy when the storms of life die down. The sooner you know and accept these truths the better.
