On April 6th Chicago rapper Famous Dex dropped his debut studio album Dex Meets Dexter. It was initially supposed to be released on March 23rd but it had some delays. April 6 is a special day for Dex because he celebrates his little sister, Sierra’s, birthday who he lost to breast cancer. With features from A$AP Rocky, Wiz Khalifa and others, his album peaks at no. 16 on Apple’s iTunes charts. Dex describes his album title with two different identities: Dex the good guy and Dexter the crazy boy.
Famous Dex is one known not only for his lyrics but his charisma and his appreciation to hip hop. He has been known for his solo mixtape projects and with this being his first official album he wanted to let his fans know “Dex really can.. he can do some music.” Dex portrays his flexibility showing not only is he about trap music but he can be romantic and maybe even sing a little. So far this album has gotten nothing but good reviews and continues to rise on the charts. I honestly love his switch up. He’s showing us he’s really much more than a trap artist and in this music business, an artist who can do more than one genre of music is a unique person who is capable of many things. We can’t wait to see what more he has to offer.
