SZA fans have been eagerly awaiting TDE’s first lady’s next album or simply any new music. Although we wish to hear a set date sometime soon from the R&B singer, SZA herself feels like it’s completely out of her hands at the moment.
The TDE member has continually received questions asking when we could expect a follow up from her 2017 Ctrl, but fans haven’t been completely satisfied with the “soon” responses they’ve been given for years.
Recently on Twitter, SZA threw her hands up and pointed fans in the direction to TDE’s president Punch to answer their important question. “At this point y’all gotta ask punch,” she wrote in a now-deleted tweet. “I’ve done all I can do .”
In a follow-up tweet, the “Love Galore” artists responded to a fan’s question asking if their relationship was “adverse or hostile,” or just out her hands. SZA then replied “BEEN hostile,” which sparked an issue for her riders. Fans began attacking the label expressing “Free SZA” and writing Punch on social media to allow SZA to drop new music.
Aww man come on @iamstillpunch This looks really bad on your part and TDE. This is how you treat your female artist? And not just any female artist…SZA? We just want the music, stop all the extra. https://t.co/0u5vqZxmVR

Punch took some time to reply to several people to try to get them to understand the process, then tweeted, “I am a person and you guys are hurting my feelings.” The next day, SZA followed up clearing the air that she doesn’t need to be “freed” and she trusts the process that Punch has set for her and the music. She also expressed that although they disagree, Punch has never guided her wrong.
I am a person and you guys are hurting my feelings.

Tensions became extremely high via Twitter from SZA fans towards Punch, but all in all, the two know where they stand. There has yet to be a release date on the next project, but Ctrl is such a timeless album that we can still enjoy it until then.
