We are under SZA’s Ctrl. The songstress has captivated us with her transparent lyrics, signature long locks, and comfy style. In her recent feature in the Los Angeles Times, SZA discussed how she unintentionally got into music, what she likes to listen to, and how removing labels can make your art limitless.
Although SZA was dropping gems, what stood out the most was her announcement of a joint album with British DJ and producer Mark Ronson and Australian psychedelic powerhouse band Tame Impala. Back in June at the Governors Ball in NYC, Ronson and Tame Impala frontman Kevin Parker performed a new song that featured the sultry vocals of SZA. The song has that typical funky vibe of Tame Impala, with a hint of soft pop elements standard of Ronson. However, what set the song apart was SZA’s ultra laidback vocals. This will be SZA’s first time collaborating with Ronson and Parker, however, the duo has teamed up previously on Ronson’s 2015 album UpTown Special.
This project for sure is going to take us on an eccentric, upbeat and smooth, yet trippy journey that we have definitely experienced from the artists separately, but not together. Can’t wait to hear the insane tunes that SZA, Mark Ronson and Tame Impala will create? Check out the clip below for a preview of the SZA x Mark Ronson x Tame Impala magic.
