How far is one willing to go to see their favorite singer perform live? Well, Trayvone “Lil Darus” Stevenson proved he was able to go to great lengths to see American rap sensation Meghan The Stallion. Meghan was performing last Friday in her hometown of Houston, Texas at the three-day “March Madness Music Festival: Houston’s Final Four Fan Fest Concert” in Discovery Green Park according, to ABC 13 Eyewitness News and New York Post. Mr. Stevenson, who is actually a 28-year-old Texan barber managed to break into the concert posing as a cop with a “Police K-9” vest and stating that he was to be “working security as a police officer” according, to New York Post.
He was charged with a “felony for impersonating a public servant” and was released that following Monday from “Harris County Jail” on a “20,000” dollar bond following his hearing according, to New York Post. Although the case has a shocking, and even amusing tone to it, it is actually a rather serious crime as Mr. Stevenson is expected to make an appearance in court on May 19 with the possibility of facing 2 to 10 years in prison according, to Pop Crush. In addition, to Meghan The Stallion many of Houston’s biggest names in music were performing as well, including Lil Nas X, Tim McGraw, Keith Urban, Little Big Town, and Mickey Guyton according to, ABC 13 Eyewitness News. According to Revolt and Pop Crush the concert was “completely sold out” which allegedly might have led to Mr. Stevenson’s impersonation of a cop to get in.”
A prosecutor named Matthew Jackson commented on the case saying: “Megan Thee Stallion is a fantastic draw, big draw, especially here in Houston, but this is still a felony case,” he said. “You cannot go and impersonate an officer to get into a concert venue” according, to NME. According to KHOU 11, “Fans stood in line for hours for this moment to get the best spots possible to see Megan The Stallion” one fan also said, …”everybody’s hype, laughing, joking, good time, no bodies stressing, just a good vibe. After watching this news clip, one might understand why Trayvone did what he did as Meghan The Stallion is a great entertainer, the show was sold out, and these concerts are really fun to attend. There’s a fan clip posted on YouTube where one can get a better view of this spectacular concert, and see that Meghan looked quite beautiful, as she wore her hair curly/natural, had sunglasses on, and a sultry outfit on an orange-lit, flame-themed stage.
Everyone loves a great live show, but I bargain that after this incident Trayvone, and anyone else wanting to see their favorite singer might want to take more legal steps to see them. Although live shows can be fun and entertaining, it is instances like this that can show us that some things can go wrong, so it is best to plan, get your tickets early and have fun while still being on your best behavior.
