At this point, who hasn’t heard Drake’s “God’s Plan” and seen the heartwarming video a thousand times already? Drake breaks yet another record this year with his hit single, “God’s Plan”, from his latest LP, “Scary Hours” released on January 19th.
Since 2013, Baauer’s “Harlem Shake” reached 103.1 million streams within one week of the release. Since then, there hasn’t been an artist to come close to this viral reach… until now. According to Nielson Music, “God’s Plan” just hit 101.7 million streams. The song has also been at the top of the charts for the fifth week in a row.
While the visual to “God’s Plan” has been said to have a lot to do with the song’s success, it’s hard to deny how catchy the song is. Let’s not forget Drake’s best line, “I only love my bed and momma, I’m sorry”.
Undeniably, Drake is here to take it all 2018. It’s easy to foreshadow this song and video to be nominated for various awards this year. Either way, Drake breaks records. Even though he didn’t surpass “Harlem Shake” numbers, Drake’s “Hotline Bling” currently hold 1.3 billion views within two years of the release.
