Aaliyah’s estate gave her fans the best gift on Christmas with news that they have gained rights to her official YouTube Channel.
On Dec. 25, the estate took to the One In A Million singer’s official Instagram page to announce the great news. The post showcased a photo of the late R&B singer and words written across expressing that it will be coming in 2021. The caption thanked fans for all the support and love.
“We are proud to announce that the Estate is now in control of the ‘Aaliyah’ YouTube account,” the post read. “2021 will the year of Aaliyah! See you all in the new year!”

According to Complex, Aaliyah’s music is owned by Blackground Records, which was founded by her uncle Barry Hankerson and currently not a working label. Aaliyah had released her three albums under Blackground Records and has been continually battling for ownership.
Back in August, Aaliyah’s estate announced that they would be moving forward with the late singer’s music catalog. It was also said that it was available on streaming platforms.
“To our loyal fans: We are excited to announce that communication has commenced between the estate and various record labels about the status of Aaliyah’s music catalog, as well as its availability on streaming platforms in the near future,” the announcement read.
It wasn’t clear on what the estate plans to upload to the official YouTube Channel, but whatever it is, the fans are here for it.
