The 1990’s was quite a time to be alive. The cost of living was cheaper and television was actually…….entertaining. One of the most popular Cable channels of the 1990s heading into the early 2000s was MTV. The network brought us cult classics such as Beavis and Butt-Head, Celebrity Deathmatch, and the animated show that just announced for a reboot by MTV Studios, Daria.
The reboot of this hit 90’s show will be titled, Daria & Jodie and it will be centered around the friendship of Daria Morgendorffer and Jodie Landon as they “take on the world” and deal with cultural issues that are relevant today. Grace Edwards, who worked on shows such as Inside Amy Schumer (2013), Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt (2015), and *Loosley Exactly Nicole (2016), will serve as the show’s head writer.
Daria & Jodie serves as just one of 200 shows in the MTV Studios catalog in line for a reboot or spinoff series in the young adult genre. MTV President, Chris McCarthy informed the Hollywood Reporter that MTV Studios will be focusing on unscripted shows and isn’t ruling anything out as far as revivals go. Some of the rumored revivals are Beavis and Butt-Head, Celebrity Death Match, Teen Wolf, The Real World, and Laguna Beach.
We’ve seen MTV already bring back classic shows such as TRL and Jersey Shore, but I’m sure I speak for many 90’s babies when I say that WE WANT CELEBRITY DEATH MATCH!
