A new film documenting the extraordinary yet troubled life of renowned singer Whitney Houston, simply titled Whitney, is slated to be released July 6th. The documentary will take an in-depth journey into the singer’s career and personal life in a way never done before. Director Kevin Macdonald says that the film will be “an intimate family story that reveals a new side to a woman that even her most die-hard fans never knew.” He also hopes that film goers leave the theatre feeling more positive about the singer and her art and not remember her solely by her personal tragedies.
The film will feature never-before-seen footage, original studio recordings, live recorded performances and unreleased music by the late singer. With the support of the Houston estate, this docu-film will presumably work to preserve the Houston name unlike other documentaries and films released about Whitney.
