Everybody knows that 34 year-old Drake prefers his ‘checks over stripes’, but the rapper has shown his adoration for the brand once again after teasing another Nike collaboration. We are expected to be able to get our hands on this next month. This is after a selection of merchandise was dropped by Nike and Drake last month, as part of the lead-up to his upcoming album Certified Lover Boy, which is set to release January 2021.
Hypebeast stated that ‘The OVO head took to social media to further hint at the collab, sharing a teaser that spotlights the same logo Drizzy used in the “Laugh Now Cry Later” music video and the Nike ad he previously shared on his Instagram stories. A Nike logo and the date “12.18.2020” closes out the short visual, implying that something big will happen that Friday. An official Instagram account that bears the date has also been set up, offering a first look at what we can expect from the collaboration.’
Earlier this year, rumors of a Nike x Drake footwear and apparel collection made rounds. This included word of an Air Force 1, and Complex Sneakers even went as far as to confirm this, stating they had a Nike source. Back in 2013, Drake previously signed with Jordan Brand and even flirted with the idea of jumping over to Adidas a couple of years ago, but a deal was never signed.
Although there are currently no leaked photos of the collaboration, fans are getting excited by photos Drizzy posted to Instagram. However, these are rather grainy, but nonetheless excitement is still high amongst the hip-hop community.
