This past Saturday at the Spring Studios venue in New York City, fashion designer Han Lei unveiled his Spring/Summer 2020 womenswear collection for his brand, DAMOWANG during this year’s New York Fashion Week. Drawing influence from WU XIA, a representative culture seen in modern China, the clothing line mixes elements of an ever-evolving and developing fashion sense with “the reserved temperament of the contemporary independent woman.”
Mixing and matching different layered fabrics such as wool, flax, organza, and animal texture, Han Lei creates a style unlike any other expressed on the runway. There is something both uniquely ancient yet modern about the way his clothes appease to the eye. As if Han Lei wanted to purposely elude a complete defilement while being presented in a way that’s absolutely stunning.
DAMOWANG SS20 also features collaborations with MYWANTS, a well-received collaborative return from last season’s presentation, with the two designers using classic elements to “deliver an array of flats, sneakers, boots, and slippers with artistic and modern characteristics.” As well as partnering with MESHEEN on bags.
