Clothing has become a statement of how we feel, what we believe and what are day will look like. Although it may not seem like we put thought into our clothing choices, it’s our biggest decision we make every day and it’s a decision that affects the mind and feelings.
Thinking about how you want to portray yourself and how you feel about the day’s events leads to what you plan on wearing. If it’s a nice day, you might feel motivated to dress up a little but if it’s cloudy and raining, you might feel like you need to dress comfortably. Aside from that, your feelings may distinguish what you plan on wearing.
For example, the common thought of the image of depression is the baggy clothes and sloppy-like hairstyles and it’s true to some degree. When you’re not feeling the best, you don’t always dress or look the best. It shows when you’re feeling great, too. You’re more inclined to wear brighter colors, experiment with different pieces and be creative. Putting more thought into your daily outfits can serve as a pick-me-up and become a good habit to have.
Everyone has a favorite outfit and that outfit can be described as making them feel confident, happy and good-looking because they’re maintaining a positive image of themselves. We dress up to make ourselves feel better and stand out from other people. Having a unique style and putting on a thoughtful outfit together when you’re feeling not so great is something to try and see where it leads you.
