On March 2, videos of Kanye West and Kim Kardashian West’s daughter North West rapping at her father’s fashion show in Paris went viral. Everyone found her performance adorable, but not too many people were pleased with the idea that they didn’t give credit to the original performer.
North West stood on stage to perform her rap for the audience while the models walked the runway. Her bars included her rapping about her shoes and how “cool” and “cute” they were, as she then mentioned, “what are those?”
The beat that West rapped on sounded very familiar, which came to be from the young, talented ZaZa who released her hit single, “What I Do?” in 2019.
Many people began to bash the West family saying that they didn’t give the young rapper her credit for the song. ZaZa’s parents took to social media to address the situation professionally and calmly. They claimed that they “weren’t mad,” but felt that the creators needed to be recognized.
Kim also took a moment to respond with a comment claiming that not giving credit, was never their intention, instead, to show how North was inspired. She also took to her Twitter to explain and give the credit to ZaZa.
I’m so proud of my Northie!!!!!! Her 1st performance had me in tears! She had an impromptu performance on stage at her dads Yeezy Season 8 fashion show! Shout out to Zaza!!! @redcarpetZaZa North hopes you like the remix!!! pic.twitter.com/f9Zas0OLlz

All in all, both families are at ease with the situation and didn’t allow it to evolve. There have been talks about a possible collaboration between the two young girls and we might just get it soon.
