Last Fall, Banana Republic joined fashionista, Olivia Palermo in partnership to bring along a new collection together. The designer put together a collection of 70 new wardrobe pieces and were set to officially launch that Banana Republic’s official NYFW show.
On Saturday, September 9th, Banana Republic held the official NYFW show for their Fall/Winter collection in Flatiron District, NY. The fashion show began at 1 pm and excited new shoppers and fashionistas waited outside the doors of this Banana Republic to be the first to get their hands on this collection. Besides this fashion sneak peek, everyone who waited in line were going to get to meet the brand’s very own, Olivia Palermo.
Banana Republic’s models were lined up and ready to go right at showtime. Each model was serving looks, dressed up in elegant attire all provided by Banana Republic’s new Fall/Winter Collection 18′. The models came out and were all directed to the platform outside that was set for them to perform on. While showcasing the brand’s newest looks, the show was interrupted by animal protestors with picket signs and chants. This was due to the designer’s previous use of animal skin and fur. This collection’s most extreme item contains snakeskin and is priced at $1,000. Due to all the commotion, the models were then escorted safely into the store and the show then continued inside.
The second portion of the collection’s fashion show proceeded at the top of the store’s luxurious staircase. The models were all staggered amongst each other while posing for the cameras all around them. This show, like other NYFW shows, lasted around an hour and concluded on the white staircase. After the show was over, the line for those in hopes of meeting Olivia Palermo and shopping the new collection began to let in.
The meet and greet with Olivia Palermo proceeded after the show for around an hour and a half. She greeted each and everyone with energy and a charismatic smile. Everyone had an opportunity for a picture and were asked to tag #BananaRepublicNYFW.
Overall, Banana Republic’s NYFW did an amazing job transpiring elegance and showcasing a timeless collection. In all, a timeless collection is what the designer envisioned. “With this collection, you can keep in your wardrobe and build on… Something you should think about when investing is, am I going to have this piece as I get older? Can I wear this when I’m 16 and can I wear this when I’m 70?”, Olivia Palermo expressed. Indeed, she DID that.
