The King of Pop’s legacy is hitting the stage
Just this past Tuesday Variety Magazine stated that the Michael Jackson Estate and Columbia Live Stage announced they are adapting a play influenced by the life of Michael Jackson. Although untitled and unsure of where they plan to book the play, it’s set to hit the stage in 2020.
With previous shows such as Thriller Live, Michael Jackson “One” and Michael Jackson’s This Is It, this news of a stage play is not that surprising to his fanbase.
Moreover, the show will have elements from Pulitzer Prize winner Lynn Nottage ‘s gritty dramas “Sweat” and “Ruined” which deals with war and rust belt hardships which are a bit off the grid from the life of the king. In addition, the tracks for the play will consist of some favorites such as “Thriller”, “Smooth Criminal”, “Beat It” just to name a few, followed by the choreography and production by Tony Award-winning ballet superstar Christopher Wheeldon.
Since the Jackson Estate is involved in the production, it’ll be interesting as to whether or not the controversial parts of his life will be portrayed.
