“That Jada and that Will love,” as J. Cole expressed in his “No Role Modelz” song, has always been something that people believed love should look like. As of lately, people are thinking twice about that, since R&B singer August Alsina shared his past involvement with Jada Pinkett Smith.
On Friday, July 12, Jada Pinkett Smith and Will Smith took to the Red Table Talk to address the latest rumors of Jada being in a relationship with Alsina, which happened to be true.
In the Red Table Talk conversation, the married couple shared with the world that we’re going through a rough patch in their relationship and had decided to separate. Jada explained that before that, Alsina had become a good friend to her in which he was also dealing with challenges in his personal life.
They expressed that they both believed that their marriage was done, so they began doing their own thing. During the conversation, Will asked Jada to be clear with what happened, since they decided to take it to the Red Table Talk for everyone to see.
Jada then admitted to having an “entanglement” with Alsina that happened years ago, but it was just that. She then went on to address false rumors that Alsina claimed Will had given the singer permission.

“The only person that can give permission in that particular circumstance is myself,” she said. “I could actually see how he would perceive it as permission because we were separated amicably and I think he also wanted to make it clear that he’s also not a Homewrecker. Which he’s not.”
The rumors surfaced just after Alsina had an interview with Angela Yee that shared his side of the story, which he claimed that he lost out on many opportunities because of rumors of his and Jada’s “relationship.”
The Smiths shared that although they have been married since 1997, they have had their fair share of fall-outs just like any other couple does, but are reminded they are committed to each other. While closing out the conversation, they expressed that they have since worked on things and Jada has not spoken to Alsina.
Jada said, “Through that particular journey, I learned so much about myself and was really able to confront a lot of emotional immaturity, emotional insecurity — and I was really able to do some really deep healing.”
