Rapper, fashion designer, producer, and multi-Grammy award winner Kayne West has reached a net worth of nearly $7 billion. Bloomberg News and other news outlets reported on the estimate of West’s newest net worth, which could have caused him to be the richest black person in America.
His estimated net worth includes his Yeezy clothing and shoe deal with Addidas and Gap, which is valued at $3.2 million to $4.7 billion. Bloomberg also estimated that West has $122 million in cash or stock. With his $110 million music catalog and $1.7 billion in other investments, it just kept increasing the rapper’s net worth.
It’s been quite a long journey for the rapper when it comes to wealth. In 2016, West told BET News that he was over $50 million in debt. Which with having a now net worth of nearly $7 billion that could be seen as a huge accomplishment as a black person in America.
But the huge question is if Kanye West really is the richest black person in America?
Although, the many reports that stormed the internet on March 18th stating that the Chicago-born college dropout is considered the richest black person in America, Forbes was the first to debunk those reports. Forbes published an article stating that recent, “reports that West is worth nearly $7 billion are based on the magical thinking around sales that don’t exist yet. This is why he’s currently worth less than one-third of what’s being reported.”
Currently, Robert F. Smith remains the richest black person in America with $6.6 billion. While the richest black person in the world is Aliko Dangote of Nigeria with a network of $11.8 billion. West has yet to make a comment on the reports about his net worth.
