Issa Rae has made a great name for herself in Hip hop, as several rappers have inserted her name in a verse here and there. But most importantly, the creator and actress of Insecure has continuously brought light to Black culture through her scripts and involvement in the industry.
Now, she’s taking a dive into the beauty industry, as she has become the face and co-owner of Sienna Naturals, a Black-owned hair brand.
According to an interview with Allure, Issa Rae and Hannah Diop, the Sienna Naturals’ CEO, have known each other for quite some time before becoming partners for the Los Angeles based brand. Rae expressed in the interview that hair plays an important factor for herself, as she felt it’s a part of her identity.
“I’d been watching Hannah’s journey for a while, seeing her developing these products. I got interested in the natural, organic side of hair care,” Rae shares with Allure. I felt like this was a great opportunity to partner up — not to mention obviously loving what the products did for my own hair.”
The hair products focus on Afro-textured hair, including shampoos, conditioners, and leave-ins. One of the collections is the Salon in the Box, which includes a H.A.P.I Shampoo, Dew Magic, Plant Power, and Lock & Seal. Each of these products performs their own magic, such as cleansing hair, leave-in conditioner, softening hair and adding protein, and adding moisture. The box runs for $75 as a collection, or you can also purchase separately at affordable prices of $18 to $22.
Last week, the Sienna Naturals official Instagram page shared a post welcoming the co-owner to the team. “We are OVER THE MOON excited to finally share with you what’s been in the works over here,” the post read. “This week has been one for the books and we are beyond happy to have all of you on this journey with us.
Sienna Naturals take pride in being vegan and carefully formulated. The products are currently sold out, but you can join their waitlist here to get notified when they are back.
