You probably just finished binge-watching your latest Netflix show and you’re on the hunt for something new and fresh to get hooked on – the wait will soon be over.
With the presence of cannabis increasing at a rapid pace, especially in the food industry. Netflix decided that a new cooking show would be the next big thing.
Cooked with Cannabis is coming to Netflix next month. According to Pitchfork, the show will feature six episodes hosted by the “Milkshake” singer Kelis and Chef Leather Storrs.
Contestants will be challenged to make three dishes made with cannabis-infused ingredients.
Each meal will be judged by Kelis, Leather, and a guest judge. Some of the guest judges include Ricki Lake and comedian Mary Lynn Rajskub, so the season is bound to be star-studded. Once the winning cook is decided, that chef will win a $10,000 cash prize. The first season features a rotating cast of dinner guests, including Ricki Lake, Too $hort, and EL-P.
“Cooked with Cannabis is a show where weed is a seasoning rather than the reason. It’s granular, educational, heartfelt and smart,” Storrs told Food & Wine. “The contestants had personal and romantic relationships with the herb and they knew its intricacies: medically, chemically, spiritually and as an intoxicant. Further, there was a real sense of community and camaraderie.”
Although this won’t be Kelis’ first cooking show, In 2004, the Cooking Channel aired Saucy And Sweet, a show named for Kelis’ love of sauce — which she also shared with her own line of sauces called Feast.
