Could your ex boyfriend be your next boyfriend? For some people, it’s easy to cut all relationship ties to his/her mate. Lets be real though. We’ve all had that one mate who was a bad habit that we just didn’t want to break. It’s human nature to feel inclined to “get that old thing back” when your mate has had so much influence over your life.
Although relationship woes can lead to the end of the unity, the end of a relationship is not always a sinking demise. It would be superfluous to discuss the reasons why a relationship has ended; the beginning of that possible friendship is more relevant.
The question whether a couple that was once in a relationship could become platonic friends is difficult to answer instantly. One would rightfully think that it would depend on the circumstances. Assuming all is forgiven, should there even be any circumstances that prohibit a possible friendship? You can’t erase the history that was created in the relationship. I’d say there is no warranted reason why an ended relationship couldn’t segue into a healthy friendship if both parties act as adults.
In some relationships, people are shocked to find out that they were better off as friends than lovers in the first place. To a certain extent, friendships may be easier because it excludes sex and the extracurricular feelings. But, how do you control the urge ? To some, it’s easier to engage in sex with their ex/friend because of the history. This could potentially complicate things though. Old feelings can resurface. The next thing you know, you’re at the opposite end of resentment from the past. Quite frankly, if you can’t stop yourself from being all over your ex when you’re friends, it’s probably indicative of some much needed closure and soul searching.
It is not possible to rebirth the initial compatibility just from having sex with an ex. Either you let bygones be bygones and be like Elsa and let it go. After all, strong friendships are hard to come by and it would be damaging to lose that friendship because of a blissful moment.
