Sun In My Belly is located in the heart of Kirkwood/Decatur area off College Ave. It’s has a diner/cafe feel and serve brunch, lunch, dinner. (They also cater!)
I had heard amazing things about their brunch, and was very excited to visit. I wanted to try everything. I settled on the Kirkwood Breakfast (scrambled eggs with house-made boursin cheese, honey-glazed bacon, lavender biscuit). You may be thinking to yourself lavender? Isn’t that a scent, why yes! Yes, it is, but it is also very delicious in biscuit form.
The honey glazed bacon was cooked to perfection.
I also tried the P.B.L.T.(with pimento cheese, fried green tomatoes, thick- cut bacon, scallion aioli, crisp lettuce on brioche, and hashed potatoes.
I love pimento cheese and fried green tomatoes (I’m from the South) the bacon brings this sandwich home, coupled with the lettuce.
Their brunch menu also features fresh salads, and sandwiches. If you are on the healthy tip, their yogurt parfait and grilled chicken would be good options. Also the M.L.T. I can’t wait to get that next time, I’m a sucker for mozzarella cheese and pesto sauce.
