The Interview
Question: How has your life changed since being signed to Def Jam; How has your everyday life changed?
Answer: Its way more things I can do now, that I wasn’t able to do a month or two ago. Its also financial, and everything is working out better for me now. I feel way better, they’re also about to push my music heavily and they are pushing me and putting a lot of money behind me. It’s a good feeling.
Question: Tell me about your process behind you getting signed to Def Jam.
Answer: I had a video that went viral, I love doing videos, and I love singing and I wanted to put myself out there. So I posted a couple videos on Instagram and out of those videos one of them went viral and had about 1 million views, and Def Jam saw me and they flew me out the next day.
Question: Did you still have a big following before you got signed?
Answer: I was at 30,000 followers and then my followers just kept going up.
Question: How did your single Valentine come about?
Answer: The inspiration behind writing the song was because a girl had broken my heart, it was also close to Valentine’s day and I wanted to give it to her to show her how much I appreciate her and want her to forgive me. When I was in the studio I was thinking about her so I wrote it for her. And I was just really in my feelings, and my boy made a beat just for Valentines Day and I made the song just for Valentines Day. So it worked out.
Question: Talk to me about your upcoming EP, how many songs are there going to be, and what genres of music are going to be on the EP?
Answer: Well right now, I’m looking towards 9 songs for the EP. The songs will be emotional, some will be about pain. It will be a variety of songs.
Question: For your EP, can we expect any collabs?
Answer: Yes me and NBA young boy for sure, and a lot of other artists I’m just sorting out everything right now, and I don’t want to spoil it for you.
Question: How long does it normally take for you to write a song?
Answer: I really don’t rush in my songs. Somedays it can take me an hour and some days it can take me a day. When I write a song, it is the one, it’s very meaningful. I just don’t take 5 minutes and write a song, because to me it just doesn’t feel right. No matter how long it takes me I know it will be a good song.
Question: Are you the type of artist to need beats to write or do just sometimes write without any instrumental?
Answer: I like writing with beats because its important for me to feel the beat.
Question: So you have been signed for 2 months? Do you ever feel like things are going fast since you’ve been signed, do you ever want them to slow down so you can live in the moment?
Answer: Yes about a month and a half. No, I don’t want them to slow down it’s my time.
Question: Any upcoming shows? Will there be a promo tour after the EP?
Answer: Yes, I’m getting booked right now but I’m trying to slow down because I’m going to put out my EP. I really don’t want to perform with just one song I want to perform a collection of songs so that I can show appreciation to my fans. Yes definitely very soon, everything is still in the works. But I can tell you that’s it is going to be crazy.
Question: Any other talents?
Answer: I can play the guitar.
Question: If you weren’t doing music, what would you be doing.
Answer: I would be grinding, see like me, I didn’t have a plan B. Music was all I knew, and if it wasn’t for music I don’t know where I would be. I knew I was going to make it and I knew this was coming. Speaking is very powerful, so I spoke it into existence. So I knew this was going to happen.
Question: Who inspired you to be a singer growing up? Who are your favorite current artists in this generation?
Answer: Michale Jackson. My favorite Michael Jackson song is “Beat it” and “You are not alone”. Bruno Mars, Chris Brown, Young Thug, and Future.
