On a particularly rainy night in Chicago, my homies’ and I went out to visit a friend’s apartment downtown. While meeting the new people, I was talking to this kid my age who had a VHS handy cam his name was Ozzy. He explained his fascination with VHS camcorders and the insane edits that are created out of the footage. I expressed how cool I thought it was and Ozzy was kind enough to teach me and my friend how to use the camcorder. As the night went on, he took various footage of my friends and I then later surprised us by making a video edit of the night. The way he took the time out of his day to create something we could cherish shows how genuine he was.
Ever since October 2020, his Instagram @ozzyarias_ has displayed the insane video edits he’s created while collaborating with various rappers and creative teams. Something unique about Ozzy is his love for all kinds of music which allows him to work with such a variety of styles. He currently has two of biggest music production teams in Chicago are invested in him as well as many other artists. He and a friend were even referred to as “up next” by one of the previously mentioned team’s co-founders. After recently meeting up with Ozzy, it is evident the current opportunities he has are solely because of the nonstop grind he’s been on ever since he started. He revealed how during the time that I met him, he was stuck in a cycle of work. He would clock into his 9-5 in Plymouth, Indiana, clock out and come to Chicago for video shoots, then drive back to Indiana to work again. This alone shows you how dedicated he was to fulfill his clients’ requests. People from his hometown have recognized this special drive he has to chase his dreams. Even his principle has contacted him essentially complimenting and congratulating him on his work.
Now 20 years old and relocated in Chicago, Ozzy has stayed dedicated to balancing school, family and his own grind. Though life can become stressful between all three, Ozzy always manages to persevere through challenges. He noted the importance of his family and how grateful he is to have constant motivation and support from them. Along with his family, he also highlighted the effect other creatives he’s been around. When working with people that are as hard working as he is, he says the combined motivation creates relationships like no other. It’s almost as if their motivation bounces off one another, pushing them both towards success.
