Undoubtedly, XXXTentacion has had a crazy year. While some recent headlines involving the artist have been rather controversial, XXXTentacion has recently signed a $6 million deal with Capitol Music Group’s subsidiary, Caroline.
The artist, born Jahseh Onfroy, has been given the title of the “Reigning King of Soundcloud”, as well as streams on all other music platforms such as Apple Music, Pandora, and Spotify. This year, XXXTentacion released his debut full-lengthed album, “17”. This project was released via Bad Vibes Forever/ EMPIRE Records on August 25th. Subsequently, “17” debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 Chart. Reportedly, the album achieved a total of 87,000 units in sales within the album’s first week. According to Nielsen Music, “17” was able to reach 313,000 equivalent album units in sales in total. Due to XXXTentacion’s major success this year, this resulted in the record label’s largest album debut.

While the artist is still under investigation for the recent allegations of aggravated assault involving his pregnant ex-girlfriend and a long history of violence, X is still working on new music. Some will say XXXTentacion owes his success to Drake and their beef, while I’d argue in saying he has the biggest cult following since Lil B.
