On Mar. 29th, Tyler, The Creator dropped a music video on Twitter for OKRA, the rapper’s newest song after releasing his hit album Flower Boy this summer.
Dubbed “a throwaway song” by the artist, the song was only posted on Twitter for the first day it was released but was put on Spotify on Mar. 30th. The song’s title, OKRA, makes reference to the edible vegetable. OKRA isn’t the only shout out made in the artist’s song–he also makes a call out to emerging actor Timothée Chalamet. Tyler, The Creator says “Tell Tim Chalamet to come get at me / Skin glowin’, clear of acne,” possibly making reference to both Tyler, The Creator’s rumored queer sexuality and Timothée Chalamet’s recent starring role in the gay love story Call Me By Your Name. According to NME, Chalamet responded to Tyler, The Creator’s song by retweeting a fan’s funny tweet that implied him ‘coming at’ Tyler.
Jokes aside, Tyler, The Creator’s newest single falls in line with his other popular songs in its futuristic rap style spoken by his charismatic and iconic voice. Hopefully, more music will soon be coming from the artist after this newest release.
