In 1999 Juvenile declared that he was going to take over that particular year along with 2000. Fast-forward, 22 years later, and it looks like he is planning to take over 2021 as well. The New Orleans Rapper recently reworked his hit single “Back That Thang Up.” The classic song has now been transformed into “Vax That Thang Up.” “Vax That Thang Up” features fellow rappers Mannie Fresh, who also appeared on the original track, and Mia X. The song is a part of a new campaign by the dating app BLK, which is meant to encourage black people to get vaccinated against Covid-19.
On the pro-vaccination anthem, he raps, “Girl you look good once you vax that thang up. You a handsome young brother once you vax that thang up/Dating in real life, you need to vax that thang up/Feeling freaky all night, you need to vax that thang up. Juvenile commented on the song in a statement saying , “I just wanted to do something positive for my people and to stand in the front to show that I’m willing to sacrifice my life not just for me but also for my family, we don’t know what we’re facing right now but we really do all need to be vaccinated so we can continue to do our thing and survive.”
