If you haven’t heard of him yet, you’ll bound to hear his buzz soon enough in 2018. Justin Edwards, 21, who goes by Saturated, has been on his grind for quite some time now. And it’s starting to show.
The 21-year old upcoming artist, Saturated was born in Queens, NY, but was raised in North Atlanta. In the midst of his rap career taking off, he played basketball for Oglethorpe University, where he was the leading scorer on his team. The young ballplayer decided to put his passion for basketball to the side to pursue his bigger dreams in the music industry. He has shifted his energy towards the music full-time and has so much in store for his fans in 2018.
Saturated has worked with Snagz, an NYC producer who has worked closely with Swizz Beats on all his records. Snagz has also collaborated with artists such as Jay-Z, P. Diddy, Nicki Minaj, and many more. With all this being said, Saturated was very excited to speak to TUC about his latest upcoming project, “The Book of Satch”. His objective throughout the album takes the listener through the journey that leads him to where he is today. While the project is scheduled to debut March 2018, Saturated has released his latest visual, “YDHMT”.
The visual for “YDHMT” was released on Monday, January 29th and the single is available to be streamed on Apple Music, Spotify, Tidal, iTunes and Amazon Music. The music video begins with Saturated dressed up as his alter ego, The Joker. Saturated often refers his connection to The Joker, since he expresses his past relationship included many similarities as The Joker and Harley Quinn’s relationship. They were truly in love, but madly insane. Throughout the video, Saturated is seen dressed as The Joker, with who poses to be his lover in the video, also dressed up as her alter ego, Harley Quinn. To also represent the evils of the relationship, the girl with the skull face paint represents the wrongs in the relationship. The scenes go in and out to represent the change of emotions throughout.
Throughout the video, he seems to stand with an army of masked characters. In this track, Saturated states, “Just be here is a miracle, that’s why I’m walking around with no fear no mo’”. The symbolism behind the masked characters is that these are Saturated’s demons. They follow him closely but he exclaims he no longer lives in fear. He then proceeds to speak to himself in the mirror to represent him facing his demons without a single care in the world. Saturated spoke about a time where he felt like everything was just spiraling out of control. He says, “I was going through it, depressed and felt like I was drowning…”
In the end, Saturated is out with the old, and in with the new. Saturated’s new music video represents his new state of mind and new state of living. In his line where he says, “But I do not think that you n***as really hear me though”, he’s strongly proclaiming that people don’t know what he’s had to go through to be where he is today. He also claims that he’s the best and that his talents are completely underrated. In between studio sessions and fighting demons, Saturated is set out to have an amazing year. Saturated’s upcoming project will be released March 2018. We will be sure to keep you updated with Saturated’s whereabouts as far as single releases, visuals, and album drops.
