While his hit single “MONTERO (Call Me By Your Name)” is still riding high on the charts, Lil Nas X has announced a new single is coming our way.
The rapper has remained in the top two of the Billboard Global 200 Chart for four weeks straight. With over 84.3 million streams, “MONTERO” has taken the world by storm and has fans wanting more.
All eyes have been on the “Old Town Road ” singer ever since the drop of the controversial music video for “MONTERO,” which features him sliding down a stripper pole to hell and giving Satan a lap dance.
The devilish act made such waves it was referenced during an SNL skit back on March 26. Following this, the artist announced on May 3 that he would be taking on the SNL stage. Lil Nas X will be the final musical artist of season 46.

During this announcement, he also dropped the news that a new single was on the way, However, it wasn’t until May 13, that X revealed the title of his new single is, “SUN GOES DOWN.” The track will be released Friday, May 21, the day before he is set to perform on the late-night comedy show.

What appears to be the album artwork for the track, shows Nas looking sharp in a lavender suit which matches his solely lavender environment. He can be seen sitting in the lotus position while sporting icy lavender contacts that add to his meditative, yet powerful expression. Lil Nas is floating on water and appears to be bending the element. One Twitter user jokes how this new imagery completes a theme of Nas bending all major elements, similar to the character Aang from the show, “Avatar the Last Air Bender.”
