The Houstanlantavegas rapper, Megan Thee Stallion has recently released her debut album “Good News”. Thee Stallion keeps it authentic with the sounds we’re used to hearing from her. With no hesitation, the rising female rapper begins the album with a Tory Lanez diss. Personally, Good News does not compete with Megan’s older releases, however, there are some great songs on this album.
Shots Fired – definitely written towards Tory Lanez. A more mellow sound compared to Megan’s former releases. This song is exactly what the title states, shots fired at Tory Lanes for his goofy behavior, and lack of accountability. Towards the end, the song gets pretty repetitive
Circles- a fun sample of Jazzmine Sullivan’s Circles, many speculations of the awol artist making a much-needed appearance. In this song, Megan tells us she doesn’t have time for games or the run-around.
Cry Baby – featuring DaBaby, his verse sounds very tired, the beat on this song is very cute and catchy which coincides with the title of course.
Do it on the Tip – City girls & Hot girl Meg, this song is fun and hilarious, “omg I think I’m pregnant but ion see no belly” very relatable. City girls come in with the 305 heat. JT never fails us with her metaphors and similes.
Sugar Baby – this song alludes to the newly socially glorified lifestyle of a sugar baby that Megan carries an attitude of throughout her discography. Throughout the ad line, we can hear that Meg is having a lot of fun on this track.
Overall, Megan’s new album is fun and colorful. There are some parts that are dull and repetitive, but she did not miss on this one. My favorites were ‘What’s new’ and ‘Intercourse’ and my least favorites were ‘Crazy’ and ‘Sugar Baby’.
