Back in February, Young Thug fans were shocked to hear that the Hip Hop and fashion sensation would be “deaf” this year, not realesing any new music in 2018 to honor his death brother. He also canceled his entire Australian tour after complications with his visa application, so that was also a big indicator that the news was certain. Although disappointing, there was some news for fans to look forward to, as he told Hypebeast in a short video interview that he would release his highly anticipated project Hi-Tunes next year.
But last month, Thug surprised everyone everyone by dropping a 3 song EP titled, Hear No Evil. The project included features from Nicki Minaj, Lil Uzi Vert and 21 Savage. This act contradicted his statement made in February and it seems that instead, the rapper honored his brother by dropping new music, as the title and artwork shows.
So what more can we expected from the Atlanta rapper this year ? Hopefully more new music, but as of now it is up in the air. He has dropped a few singles outside of the EP and has been featured on recently released albums with Lil Baby and Playboi Carti. He has said to be on Childish Gambino’s last album (maybe more than just his a “This Is America”), as well teaming up Lil Pump in the studio. Thug has also been busy performing at a few summer music festivals, such as Rolling Loud, and is set to hit the road with J. Cole on his “KOD Tour”.
With the year still being kind of young, let’s hope Thug has more tricks up his sleeve and more music in the works.
