On Friday, April 17, North Carolina native DaBaby released his third studio album Blame It On Baby, which is expected to be another hit for the rapper.
The 13 track album features several well-known artists, such as Quavo, Future, Roddy Rich, Ashanti, Megan Thee Stallion, and more. Blame It On Baby dropped shortly after the single, “Find My Way” was released along with the visual and short film.
Fans knew that the album was on its way, but it came to a surprise when DaBaby took to Twitter to announce the date was as close as it was.
Leading up to the album dropping, DaBaby posted several interview-like videos that expressed how he developed the album. He also took a moment to go through each artist’s feature and share how the songs came about.
DaBaby touched on “Rockstar” featuring Roddy Rich, that he claimed would be a hit, along with “Drop” featuring A Boogie Wit da Hoodie and London on Da Track. He shared special stories about the two young rappers and expressed how much respect he had for them.
For “Nasty“ featuring Ashanti and Megan Thee Stallion, which includes vocals and beats from Ashanti’s “Baby” song, Dababy said he wanted to include Ashanti on there because of his crush for her since 2004. He also said he and Meg were perfect for the track because of how expressive and carefree the two are.
In the Instagram video, the rapper mentioned that he could release an album during this pandemic because he’s “cut like that.” The album cover reflects on the state that the world is in right now with COVID-19 as DaBaby wears a face mask.
DaBaby had an amazing year when he dropped Kirk back in 2019. Blame It On Baby is expected to follow that, as it received 25 Million streams on Spotify the first 30 minutes of the release. The 2020 album can be found on all streaming platforms and check out DaBaby’s Instagram for more creative videos focusing on the album.
