The Atlanta music collective group Spillage Village, home to EarthGang, J.I.D, Hollywood JB, and Jurdan Bryant, Mereba, 6lack, and Benji, has announced their Spilligion album will drop on Sept. 25th.
The album cover features a painting of the group wearing a colored bear face mask, as they surround a skeleton holding a bear. It also showcases the skeleton being held by someone else with skulls below it. The Spilligion title itself gives off a religious vibe as if it’s their spiritual view.
“End of Daze” is the first single to drop off the new album, which brings positivity in enjoying everything in life and loving each other. It touches base on the current state of police brutality, protests, and natural disasters. The visual to “End of Daze” holds a powerful message, since it was directed and shot by all Black creatives. It was also captured on a Black family’s owned property.
“It’s important that we as creatives do business with each other and work laterally just as we do vertically,” the caption for the visual expressed. “Lots of times that missing piece you’re looking for is already in your network.”
Recently, the group dropped another single “Baptize,” performed by Earthgang and JID. “Baptize” gives off the church vibes that links back to the album cover and touches base on vices in life, and fighting for freedom.
“Police, they beat me, we storm the same streets,” Earthgang’s Johnny Venus raps. “We storm the same block, won’t stop ’til we free”
The tracklist for Spilligion has yet to be released, but we know that the collective music group has it already down packed. Make sure to check out Spilligion on Sept. 25th.
