The female hip-hop duo City Girls’ member, JT, whose real name is Jatavia Johnson, has not only been freed from prison, but made her homecoming a big celebration by releasing a single the same day.
JT was facing time in prison for credit card fraudulent charges and was released on Tuesday.
The City Girls’ member’s first post, since her release, was an Instagram photo of her latest single “JT’s First Day Out” cover, which captured her wearing a blinged-out “JT” necklace while she writes on a piece of paper as she is sitting in what looks like a tour bus. The caption reads “You Bitches Could Neva 10p est #JTFree.”
“JT’s Free Day Out” begins with what sounds like a phone call recording of her speaking to someone. She then goes on to rap about people claiming her career was over because she was in jail, but says that she was released just in time for a new season to takeover. She also mentions that when Drake released “In My Feelings,” which City Girls was featured on, she was doing her time and felt some type of way about not being out to witness the moment.
JT raps, “Drake dropped in my feelings/ I was in prison on my bunk really in my feelings”
To end the song, she takes a moment to address some rumors that she heard was going around about being impregnated by a correctional officer.
City Girls haven’t been off the map since she’s been in prison. Yung Miami, whose real name is Caresha Brown, has been keeping the duo going in the game by making appearances and performances solo. “Act Up” and “Twerk” featuring Cardi B were 2018 hits, but are continuously on the charts.
