2018 has been the year of Cardi B. Her debut album, Invasion of Privacy is certified platinum in the U.S and Canada, her childhood photo is a meme that will long on forever, she just gave birth to her baby girl, Kulture with husband Offset of the mega Hip-Hop group, Migos, and now, Cardi can add a leading 10 VMA award nominees to her accomplishments for the early half of 2018. Cardi’s 10 nominations beat out artists such as Beyonce and Jay Z who place second with 8 nominations, Drake and Childish Gambino with 7 nominations, Bruno Mars with 6 nominations, Ariana Grande and Camilla Cabello with 5 nominations, and Ed Sheeran, Khalid, and Young Thug with 4 nominations.
Cardi’s nominations include Artist of the Year, Best New Artist, Video of the Year and Song of the Year for the remix of Bruno Mar’s “Finesse” remix, Best Hip-Hop and Best Collaboration for “Bartier Cardi” featuring 21 Savage, and Best Latin for her collaboration with Jennifer Lopez and DJ Khaled on “Dinero”. Cardi has made quite the jump with MTV this year after being featured as an act on the 2017 MTV Video Music Awards pre-show.
