The cult classic film “Space Jam” cast Micheal Jordan as the star basketball player, but this time around Warner Bros. has opted for a fresher face.
James plays not only a basketball star but a father. He wants his son Dom to follow in his footsteps and live up to his athletic potential but Dom’s heart isn’t in the game.
The father-son duo gets sent to the “server verse” where Dom gets kidnapped by the evil villain, Al-G Rhythm. In order to get his son back, James must go head-to-head with AI-G Rhythm.
A task that may come easy to a basketball star turns into an uphill battle when he gets sent to Tune World and has to compile a basketball team with the beloved Looney Tunes characters.
James has his work cut out for him as the wacky characters are not athletically inclined.
Gameday takes place at a futuristic video game-like arena where the viewers will notice some familiar faces, Warner Bros. characters like The Flintstones, Yogi Bear, and King Kong.
The team of underdogs go head-to-head against the Goon Squad who have element-based powers. The team of AI villains are intimidating, to say the least. They are played by pro-basketball players Damian Lillard, Diana Taurasi, Anthony Davis, Nneka Ogwumike, and Klay Thompson.

Fans are excited to see the 36-year-old Los Angeles Lakers player take on the role. He previously had a cameo in the romantic comedy “Trainwreck” and voiced Gwangi in the animated film “Small Foot.”
“Space Jam: A New Legacy” will make its theatrical debut July 16 and will be available to stream on HBO Max.
