The first day of DC FanDome virtual event was hosted on August 22nD, where they reveal upcoming DC Comics related material when it comes to their comic, cinematic, and video game universe. The event is aimed for many fans who take a liking for DC Comics, which they were given the opportunity to view all of these content for free. They kicked the day off by showing off a new trailer of Wonderwoman: 1984 and The Justice League Snyder Cut. They also gave DC FanDome viewers a look at Barry Allen’s new The Flash costume. They announced upcoming video games like DC’S Gotham Knights and Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.
The virtual event comes to a close with the huge and exclusive trailer for the upcoming movie starring Robert Pattinson and directed by Matt Reeves, “The Batman”. Many people have been having mixed feelings about Pattinson picking up the role of The Dark Knight after Ben Affleck stepped down in 2019. However, when the roughly two-minute trailer was revealed at DC FanDome many fans became excited about the dark and gritty superhero film.
In the teaser, it showcases the city of Gotham overrun by crime which Batman and police officer James Cordon, played by Jeffrey Wright. The chilling song of “Something in the Way” by Nirvana plays in the background of each scene that is being played in the trailer. Which the song sets a haunting tone as viewers can hear the character The Riddler, played by Paul Dano. Viewers can hear him ask, “If you are justice, please do not lie. What is the price for your blind eye?”
The trailer also gave viewers a glimpse of Catwoman, played by Zoe Kravitz. The trailer views have surpassed over 15 million over the weekend on YouTube. As the excitement for everyone to see Pattinson takes on the role of The Dark Knight like many others like Christian Bale, Michael Keaton, and Ben Affleck. They’ll have to wait until October 1st, 2021 to see Pattinson’s performance as Bruce Wayne as he battles against one of DC’s popular villains The Riddler.
