After many temporary closures of movie theatres due to COVID-19, AMC has implemented a creative solution to help get back some of their lost funds—the movie theatre chain is now offering guests movie theatre rentals starting at just $99, not including tax. Although an affordable starting price, that number can climb quickly. AMC’s FAQ page states that if you’d like to bring in your own food, AMC will charge a catering fee of $250 and if you’d like to use a microphone to address your crowd, then that’ll be an extra $100. If you’d like to use the microphone beyond just addressing your crowd, that’ll be $250 instead of $100.
AMC’s website states that they’ll allow up to parties of 20 for a private screening, and AMC’s safe & clean auditorium ensures that indoor gathering during the pandemic is worry-free.
Guests are given 34 movies to pick from, with these choices ranging anywhere from Shrek to The Conjuring. Older movies cost $99, whereas newer movies cost a tad bit more at $150.
AMC isn’t the only theatre scrambling for funds following the closure of movie theatres due to the pandemic. Cinemark has also followed suit and is offering movie rentals starting at $99 with similar restrictions in place, such as a maximum of 20 guests in a party allowed. Cinemark is offering movies such as Grease and Coco for private screenings.
It’s a pretty good deal if I’ll say so myself, so I may just have to grab onto this opportunity while I can and give myself a nice little pandemic treat. After all, private screenings starting at just $99 aren’t expected to remain in place once the pandemic is over.
