Upon visiting Ri Ra Irish Pub, I expected to see a lot of green everywhere. There was not. However, there was a simple, yet traditional dark wood decor which makes you feel right at home.
The pub has a full bar, and library which I found pretty neat. Big screen tv’s line the walls for sporting events. They currently have Rugby Live for February and March. They also feature chess, nerd night, half price wine’d down with karaoke and a live DJ some Fridays and Saturdays.
I ordered the Shepherd’s Pie: Minced lamb simmered with onion, peas, leek & carrot in a savory herb gravy topped with browned pub mash; served with house baked soda bread & Kerrygold Irish butter.
I do not even like peas, and wow, this dish was delicious ! I love lamb, and it was prepared to perfection. The soda bread on the side was also a nice touch.
I also tried the All Day Irish Breakfast: A classic fry up of two eggs, Irish sausages & rashers, black & white puddings, sautéed mushrooms, grilled tomato & toast
Now the black and white puddings did give me pause, but hey I’m open to delicious new things. The sauteed mushrooms and grilled tomatoes were better than having fresh fruit in my opinion.
Overall I loved the decor, and great comfort food Ri Ra had to offer. The wait staff was very friendly and let me know to come back for happy hour specials they have everyday.
