Let’s take a blast to the past !
Anyone who is anyone knows the true treasures of fashion in today’s day and age. It’s actually the value of time it has, and by that I mean the era it came from. It takes a true fashion icon to take an era of fashion and make it relevant in today’s current time period, but did you know that many of the current trending looks and pieces of our time are just circulating back from the past. For example; Jeans, leggings, and my favorite, the tracksuit.
Jeans are one of the top hitters for traveling through time, and truly renovating the fashion we wear today which is known for it being the most universal garment’s in the world of fashion. Jeans have been molded into so many styles.
- Mom jeans
- Boot-cut
- Slim Fit
- low rise ( which fit low to the waist )
- Mid-rise
- Straight cut
- Skinny jeans
- Relaxed / Normal fit jeans
The list goes on and on. This one product alone made its way from the start-up in 1873 and is still just as popular as it became after James Dean popularized them in the movie Rebel Without a Cause. Wearing jeans became a symbol of youth rebellion during the 1950s. Now that’s a true definition of a blast from the past.
Now if you wanna know another good blast from the past…
Think elastic or cotton, multicolored, and fitted… that’s right, the fabulous leggings. First created by DuPont, who crafted the very first leggings in 1959. So, we can all see that leggings have as well traveled years and years to make a true statement in the eyes of fashion.
Leggings made a true fashion statement in the 1980s. Loud and expressive colors and styles were booming. Everyone who was anyone wore them to fill the purpose of warmth and style. You could see them in commercials, workout clothes, and even everyday looks.
A fun interesting fact about leggings during this time period is that men and women wore them. No one had to feel afraid to wear what made them happy, unlike today. Be a creator and not someone following a creator. Maybe one day it can be you making one of the new trends to last a lifetime.
Our last and crucial fashion trend that has made an impact on today’s fashion generation is the tracksuit which is a true testimony to how fashion is a circle of creativity for iconic fashion designs. Tracksuits first became popular around 1975, made out of cotton, polyester, terry cloth, or a mix.
The trend of wearing athletic clothing continued into the early 1980s. In today’s fashion world tracksuits are a statement piece all around the world. There is now on that is excluded from this trend which is the best part. Moms, dads, kids, and even grandparents can all share a fashion trend that will truly last a lifetime.
To wrap it all together; fashion is a never-ending circle. Everything has a time and place to be iconic now and even later, so be the trend and you too can transcend your style or even a new design through history and time.
