New York Fashion Week is a yearly spectacle that incorporates designers, models, fashion moguls, and spectators from around the world. We’ve seen new faces like Virgil Abloh, Kanye’s apprentice, and familiars like Micheal Kors. It is one of four major fashion weeks alongside Paris, Milan, and London, known as the “Big 4.”
Just like every other facet of our lives, NYFW is also undergoing changes to accommodate life during a pandemic. The Council of Fashion Designers of America announced back in June 2020 that NYFW would be cut from 9 days to only 3. What was once an almost over a week-long exhibition is now diluted to a mere weekend. Nonetheless, designers around the world have agreed to the terms of this year’s fashion week and the show must go on.
The dates are set for Sept. 14 – 16, however, this shortage has only been confirmed for the 2020 September shows that will also be virtual according to Women’s Wear Daily – WWD. With that said, we have no clue if after New York’s phase 4 of reopening, if the Spring show will resume to 9 days and in person or remain virtual.
As for this Falls show, expect to see regulars like Badgley Mischka and Tom Ford and even newcomers like Wataru Tominaga. Even though this year’s fashion week won’t be in person, it will still be a sight you don’t want to miss and in this case, you can enjoy the show from the comfort of your own home.
