Day 1 of Style Fashion Week SS17 kicked off with an emphatic BANG! The show kicked off with the Malan Breton collection and Reality Television and Broadway star Nene Leakes serving as a special guest model for the collection. However Malan Breton wasn’t the only collection on display as designers Nikki Lund, K.Rashae, Dexter Flawk, and Eddie Eddie by Billy Tommy also had their time to shine. Each of these collections mentioned had immaculate garments on display that fit the story that was being told on the runway. However as always during this time of year, you know I have my picks that stood out among the best of the best.
Malan Breton

Malan Breton kicked off day 1 of Style Fashion week with an absolute jaw dropping presentation. The collection featured everything from tassel leather jackets as seen sported by Frankie Grande above, pants suits, and mesmerizing gowns with embellishments inspired by Malan Breton’s trip back to his homeland of the villages of Taiwan.

Overall, Malan Breton SS17 collection is a collection that perfectly incorporates the elements of modern western fashion and mystical elements of Taiwanese culture as displayed on every gown on the runway.

Eddie Eddie by Billy Tommy

The Eddie Eddie by Billy Tommy collection closed out day 1 of Style Fashion Week and it was everything that this Editor in Chief of True Urban Culture could ever want. The elements of humor, music, art, props, and also a cute little kid that warmed the hearts of all in attendance made the presentation raw and honest with a bit of swag. The Eddie Eddie by Billy Tommy collection opened with a performance by Nike Boi and $VPREMEDION as they brought energy to the crowd that was unprecedented throughout the day. As the presentation continued each model came out bringing props to the stage to a music soundtrack that represents the bloopers and blunders that you would see in an old looney tunes cartoon. There was even a model intentionally tripping down the runway.

Overall Eddie Eddie by Billy Tommy served as a reminder of what fashion is suppose to be and that is fun. The Eddie Eddie by Billy Tommy presentation didn’t take itself too seriously and it played well into the designer’s personality in whom you can check out on Instagram@reallysean4real. The presentation was flawless and the designs really played up to the energy that was on display.
