At the age of 90-years-old, the U.K.’s very own Queen Elizabeth II appears on the summer issue of Vanity Fair. Annie Leibovitz photographed the Queen. The issue shows the Queen in a private setting at her home in Windsor Castle. Photographer Annie Leibovitz gave a statement to Vanity Fair that the Queen was at peace from posing with her daughter Princess Anne, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
“I was told how relaxed she was at Windsor, and it was really true. You get the sense of how at peace she was with herself, and very much enthralled with her family,” says Annie Leibovitz.
Leibovitz goes on to add that the shoot was all Queen Elizabeth’s II ideas. She wanted to be photographed with her family. She also posed with her husband, Prince Philip, the Princess Royal, the Duke of Edinburgh, and her corgis.
The Vanity Fair summer issue also include a series of essays about Queen Elizabeth II. This includes an essay from royal biographer, William Shawcross.
Queen Elizabeth’s Vanity Fair cover will be released in New York, Los Angeles, on the iPhone, and other mobile devices on June 7, 2016
