On TikTok, depending on what side of TikTok you are on, Quantum Jumping or “shifting realities” has become a very popular activity within this generation. A generation that is, one who loves the idea of belonging and being part of different worlds they read and watch. Feeling a connection and a sense of belonging to the different worlds by knowing the ins and outs of the world and the characters in it.
Quantum jumping, in accordance with Hyper Allergic, is the newest trend on TikTok where it allows your consciousness to shift to another reality and experience everything you would experience while awake. Seeing, hearing, smelling, tasting, and touching just like you would in this current reality. On the app, people have been using this technique of “shifting realities” to escape the real world and find adventure in TV shows and/or movies that they connect with. Scripting or writing down what they want to happen, what they see, and what kinds of relationships they have with each character or person in that certain reality. From anything to what you want to look like, sound, or act like. Even what can or cannot happen to you in that desired reality. There have been some stories about people who tried and successfully shifted, but their mental health was greatly affected. All because of their brain not being able to distinguish between their current reality and the reality they “shifted” to. Forming an emotional attachment to that reality and when they are not in that world causes them to go into depression. Not being able to see that reality or the characters in it leads to long-lasting effects. In order to prevent this from happening to people, when writing their scripts, people have been making sure that even when forming these emotional attachments and connections, it will not affect their mental health.
The TikTok community has been posting all different kinds of methods and ways to help you “shift’ into your DR or desired reality from your CR or current reality. Involving various ways of meditating and clearing your mind to be able to “shift” into a certain reality. Even if it means watching clips or reading certain chapters about that reality. Posting about how they successfully “shifted” and giving advice to how to do it and being safe while doing so.
People have found this to be something they can do in a time where you are being isolated from everyone, you can still experience adventures where it is found when done right can benefit one’s health and not affect it but help it. There have been other ways that people use “shifting” other than just going to realities that have been created in books or TV shows/movies. That you can script your very own reality with as much or as little detail you want to do anything you want with whomever you want.
The popular side of Quantum Jumping is where more and more people are “shifting” to universes like Harry Potter or Marvel, trying to experience a life that was meant for the screens or on paper. A lot of questions have been swirling surrounding this new trend like is escaping the real world to “shift” to different realities detrimental to one’s health or does it help in a time where we are isolated and separate from our loved ones?
