Waka Flocka Flame has decided to dedicate his life to mental health and suicide prevention. The rapper announced on May 25 via twitter that those dealing with this illness have him to lean on.
Flocka spoke on his decision during Mental Health Awareness Month, in which his younger brother Kayo Redd died from the illness. His tweets dedicating his life to mental illness and suicide prevention mentioned how difficult it has been to deal with his brother’s passing. According to Vibe, Waka was a guest on The Therapist in 2017, which brought out the pain of knowing his brother was calling him before the incident happened. In the video, Waka explained that he had missed a call from his brother and believed that he could have possibly saved him. He ran through ideas with The Therapist on what he could have been going through to commit suicide.
“What if I would have picked that call up,” Waka expressed. “That’s when I said ‘Yo, this Rap sh*t, f**k this Rap sh*t. Cause I’m trying to work so much to keep everybody happy that reality is going by. What the F**k was my little brother was going through to make him kill himself?”
